In a significant enhancement to its residential mortgage offering, Kingdom Bank has announced an increase in its maximum mortgage lending to 90% Loan-to-Value (LTV), providing greater opportunities for churches to secure houses for gospel outreach.

Greater access to property ownership for Christian ministry workers

The change will enable churches to purchase housing with a smaller deposit. This decision reflects Kingdom Bank’s commitment to supporting gospel mission, whilst also recognising that saving for a large deposit can be one of the biggest barriers to ownership.

Responding to growing demand from churches and ministries

The announcement comes amid growing demand for lending from churches and ministries. Kingdom Bank’s Impact Report details how demand for church mortgages has grown. In 2020, Kingdom Bank lent around £5 million to churches, charities, and Christian ministries. By 2025, annual lending had increased to more than £28 million, reflecting a significant rise in the number of Christian ministries seeking to acquire their own property.

Lower deposits, greater opportunities

By increasing lending up to 90% LTV, eligible residential mortgage customers will now be able to secure a mortgage with as little as a 10% deposit. This enhancement is expected to benefit a wide range of borrowers looking to establish permanent ministry bases.

Pod Bhogal, Chief Market Officer, said:

“We understand that for many churches and Christian ministry workers, raising a substantial deposit remains one of the biggest challenges they face. Increasing our residential mortgage lending to 90% LTV is a clear demonstration of our commitment to helping churches access affordable mortgages so they can share the gospel more effectively.”

Andrew Atkinson, Head of Lending, added:

“This enhancement allows us to support a wider range of customers who have the affordability to sustain mortgage repayments, but who may not have had access to a larger deposit. Importantly, we continue to maintain a robust and responsible approach to lending, ensuring that our customers receive solutions that are right for their circumstances.”

Available now

The new residential 90% LTV mortgage offering is now available through Kingdom Bank’s lending channels, subject to eligibility criteria and affordability assessments.
