“I could earn more interest elsewhere. Here’s why I didn’t”

I’m John, I grew up in London, where I live with my wife Imogen, and I work as a Risk Manager at an investment bank. 

Purposeful saving

As my wife and I are saving up for a flat deposit, savings accounts had already been at the forefront of our minds. I’d been aware of Kingdom Bank for a while but wasn’t really considering opening an account until I heard Kingdom Bank’s CEO Paul Houghton deliver a seminar at the Co-Mission Revive weekend.  

He explained the impact that our savings can have for the gospel and pointed us to other Co-Mission churches who had purchased buildings through a Kingdom Bank mortgage. Rather than our money just sitting dormant in an account, it can be put to work and have a big impact for the gospel. 

Seeing these stories and the difference that our savings could make was the biggest draw for us.

My wife and I discussed and were both convinced that opening a Kingdom Bank savings account was an easy way to help advance gospel work and build God’s Kingdom. 

Honouring God with all we have 

I’m always reminded of 1 Timothy 6, which says that we were born with nothing, and we will take nothing with us, so we need to use all we have been given to honour the Lord. This includes our financial resources. We know that if we were to save our money elsewhere, we could make marginally more on the interest accrued.

But the interest rate isn’t our chief concern, as we know that in saving somewhere else, we wouldn’t know what our money was contributing to.

Our Kingdom Bank savings account enables us to support brothers and sisters across the UK, aligning with how we feel called to live our lives.
