Hope Church Nottingham: Opening of the Hope Centre
On Saturday 9th July 2016, after a journey of more than 4 years, Hope Church Nottingham officially opened their new building in Clifton, Nottingham. The building (a former community youth centre which had fallen into disrepair) was bought in 2014 with the help of a mortgage from Kingdom Bank. A programme of substantial refurbishment had then been completed with a grant from the Big Lottery Fund and others, together with a further mortgage advance from the Bank, transforming the dilapidated site into a vibrant modern community facility fit for the 21st century.
The day started with a Summer Fayre to which the community were invited with fairground rides for children and a Barbecue serving food. The weather was sunny and warm, making it a perfect day for the event.
The main hall was packed with many people attending the opening ceremony, including the Lord Mayor of Nottingham and Lilian Greenwood, the local MP. The Senior Pastor of Hope Church Nottingham (Stephen Hackney) gave a presentation on their journey and told their story, giving glory to God for what has been achieved. Thanks were given to all of those who had helped in some way in the achievement of the project and a prayer of dedication for the building was said. Pastor Stephen then spoke of the vision for the centre and after some worship, all those attending were invited to stay for further food and refreshments. A great day!
