Social Return Mortgages
Kingdom Bank has a history of working with Organisations who want to make a difference in their area or community, impacting the lives of people in different ways. This can be helping those who are in difficulty or struggling with particular problems (including life controlling situations).
Many of the Organisations which Kingdom Bank works with have a mission focus driving their approach, sharing their faith in a practical way as inspired by key figures in their faith. Others have a desire to make a difference through wanting to empower those who have been forgotten about or rejected by Society. What unites them is a wish to show compassion and to equip those in need with the skills and ability to lead normal lives, enabling people to become a part of the community in a way they never thought possible.
Kingdom Bank wants to partner with people who are bringing life and hope to places where it seems there is none. Many of these projects do this through providing housing for people who otherwise have nowhere to go. We have already helped fund projects which are providing accommodation for ex-offenders, people who are vulnerably housed, people who are seeking refuge, asylum seekers, people battling addictions, people with special needs and people in need of care as they reach the end of their lives.
A recent story…
Our Borrower owns a number of residential properties around the country which are let to people who would otherwise be vulnerably housed. The occupiers are a range of people who find themselves at risk of homelessness: ex-offenders, people recovering from addictions or other life-controlling problems or escaping abusive situations, young people who have been in care and many others. The charity funds each property using the occupiers’ basic housing benefit payments which are used to cover the running costs (including mortgages). It partners with local churches to enable the day-to-day management of the properties and support of each of the occupiers with mentoring. Kingdom Bank has helped the organisation purchase several of these properties which are being used to change lives on a daily basis.
