Tell us a bit about yourself and what brought you to Kingdom Bank.
My name is Iniobong, commonly known as Ini (/ˈɪnnɪ/). I trained and practiced as a Barrister and Solicitor abroad, but gradually ventured into finance with a health-based charity. I moved to the UK in 2019 with my family and decided to pursue a career in finance in December 2020.
I saw this role advertised by Kingdom Bank, and was intrigued by the possibility of a thriving, Kingdom focused bank. I prayed and decided to apply for the job; I’ve been working here over a year now and have no regrets!
What is your role at Kingdom Bank and what does a typical day looks like for you?
I work as a Customer Service Administrator in the Account Management team. My role involves working with customers to respond to enquiries, manage existing accounts and ensure everyone receives good customer service.
A typical day starts with logging onto my computer, whether I am working from home or our Beeston office. I would work through any pending tasks in the virtual diary, follow up on any ongoing team projects, go through customer queries through online banking, and look through the savings inbox to answer any questions.
I process transactions and customer enquiries relating to savings and loan accounts daily, set up new accounts, whilst ensuring all activities are in line with existing regulatory and bank policies. My team also manage the phone lines which are often busy with customers and members of the public calling with different enquiries. My team members can access these platforms, so we support each other through the day to clear pending tasks.
How did you become a Christian and how do you find this impacts your work?
I was born into a Christian home within a healthy and vibrant Christian community. Having family around me who were strong believers triggered my curiosity for the Word early on in my life. Growing in the Word was a gradual process, but I was blessed by amazing ministers and mentors at every stage of life, which played a major role in navigating and shaping my principles as a young Christian adult.
My relationship with Christ is a large part of what fuels me through life and has impacted heavily on my approach to work. It is amazing to see how God’s grace changes the way we see even the most challenging tasks, and how His Spirit guides us at different stages. When faced with difficult decisions about work I am guided by God’s truth and principles found in the Bible.
I find comfort in the presence of the Holy Spirit who helps me to not become anxious or overwhelmed by challenges, both in my work but also life in general. I find worshipping can be effective in relieving the mind, helping to refocus, hearing from God, and showing issues in a different light.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I love the conversations with customers and helping people by working through their questions.
I also enjoy working in the healthy, friendly, and respectful work environment that we have at Kingdom Bank. I think my team is amazing and I’m comforted by the leadership we have.
Where would we be likely to find you when you’re not at work?
Believe me, at home! I just love my space too much. I’d most likely be watching a Korean drama, or have music playing in the background, or I’d be at a Church service, either online or in-person.
